Summary:
The Wik Devices autosampler and analysis platform is a compact, high-throughput system designed to automate sample introduction and analysis for mass spectrometry workflows. ZEDion delivered the full electromechanical design, including embedded firmware, control electronics, and custom sample cartridge development, enabling precise fluid handling, sample pre-treatment, and direct electrospray ionization.

Mechanical Design:
Developed a modular, compact mechanical architecture with easy access for maintenance and sample loading.
Designed custom precision motion stages and sample handling subsystems for consistent and repeatable operation.
Integrated all components to minimize footprint for direct mounting to a mass spectrometer.
Sample Cartridge Design:
Engineered single-use cartridges optimized for sample collection, pre-filtering, and electrospray ionization.
Integrated fluid paths, filtration, and emitter tip geometries for plug-and-play operation with the autosampler.
Prototyped using high-resolution additive manufacturing to validate functional characteristics.
Embedded Control Systems:
Engineered full embedded system architecture based on STM32 microcontrollers.
Developed firmware to manage motion control, pump actuation, and device state logic.
